Breaking Boundaries Launch – A Celebration of Aunty Dawn Daylight
Join us on Friday afternoon, 13 June at People’s Park, 155 Boundary Street, West End for the vibrant launch of Breaking Boundaries—a special community event honouring the extraordinary legacy and creative spirit of Aunty Dawn Daylight.
A proud Yugerra/Turrbal/Jarrawoir woman, respected Elder, storyteller, and creative force, Aunty Dawn’s life work radiates resilience, cultural pride, and the enduring power of truth-telling. Her new lighting artwork, now illuminating People’s Park each evening, is a powerful expression of her story and inclusion.
This event is not just a launch—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and Country. With live performances by the Whoopee Do Crew and First Nations performers, delicious food, and great tunes, it promises to be a joyful and inspiring afternoon.
Special thanks to our event and project partners: Community Plus+ West End Community House, Cr Trina Massey, Triple A 98.9fm Murri Country, Brisbane City Council, Indigilez Women’s Leadership and Support Group, and the Gar ‘ban’djee’lum network.
Come celebrate this powerful new chapter in the heart of West End as we officially launch the 1-year Breaking Boundaries project, building on the recent revitalisation of the People’s Park Kiosk.
Let’s come together to honour Aunty Dawn Daylight and light up the park with community spirit!
